alley-oop

from craftzine/martha stewarts craft dept. blog

this human scarf is great. ive been seeing them turning up on alot of craft websites, they remind me of a cartoon frenchman with the way its done all to the side. its just chubby enough to look knit and show off the texture of the yarn, but still really delicate and femme. pretty. it does wonders for this cat, too.

im getting a little bit more into embroidery as i UP my crafty knowledge and ability. these embroidered pieces i loved, except for a few that just cheesed me out.(sometimes, it seems to me that even when all of these crafters are progressing and expanding their abilities and imaginations, there's always got to be some person whos still stuck on hearts and skulls and crossbones, but manages to be seen and noticed.) i would like to get good enough at it to do that thick, colorful mexican embroidery like on those pretty folk dresses, but put it on things like purses or curtains. also, id love to turn a blazer into a mariachi jacket with some sequins and embroidery.

^^im interested in joetta maue, this magnification she does is great. im very wary of text in art, usually it doesnt settle well with me, but these are so cool.

these envelopes made from old papers are so pretty. i used to try to make things like these for bryan's notes a long time ago. usually, i just used a vitamin water wrapper as a wee little sleeve. id like to make my own paper, the idea is cool, and i wouldnt use it unless i really wanted to, but recycling these guys into envelopes is alot easier. and prettier probably, because my trash isnt very gorgeous.

the moles and rodents are right up my alley.

PS i keep forgetting to write about it, but ive found though the innernet that the creature i named my blog after, the NOME RATH is actually a MOME RATH. should i change it?can i?
